Mr. Frank Biervliet Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Mr. Frank Biervliet assumed his role in 2004 as consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology after completing specialised training in the West Midlands.
With a passion for helping women navigate complex reproductive health issues, he specialises in menstrual irregularities and recurrent miscarriages. Serving as the clinical lead for the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, he possesses extensive experience in managing recurrent miscarriages. Moreover, his expertise extends to outpatient procedures, notably outpatient hysteroscopy for menstrual problem assessment.

Mr Kolar comes to us from Kliniken Clinic and has nearly 20 years of experience in plastic surgery, with his primary drive and passion stemming from the belief that the patient experience can always be improved. He has sought to do this by broadening his exposure in multiple plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery centres across the world and adding to the knowledge basis by completing both an MD & PhD in Sweden, utilising fat and dental treatments to aid regeneration, making him one of a handful in the country with this level of expertise.
His love for cosmetic surgery stems from an early passion for art at school, in multiple media in combination with its application in medicine. He has sought out practical experience with the best minds and hands in cosmetic surgery from across the world, with the aim of amalgamating the techniques from each surgeon to provide the best quality of care he can for his patients. This resulted in him visiting centres in the US, UK, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Germany, Lebanon & India.

Mr. Suraj Joshy Orthopaedic Surgeon, MBBS MSc (Orthopaedics)
Mr. Joshy completed his MBBS and subsequent MS(Orth) degrees in India and then moved to the UK to get advanced training in Trauma and Orthopaedics. This led to him obtaining his specialist registration in Trauma and Orthopaedics in December 2010.
Mr. Joshy developed his knowledge and gained sub-interest in paediatric orthopaedics and adult Foot and ankle surgery which led to him completing a specialist fellowship in these areas. With a keen interest in clinical research, he has published more than 20 research articles in international Orthopaedic journals, along with more than 40 presentations to my credit. Before joining Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, he worked as a consultant at the world-renowned Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Due to his extensive knowledge Mr Joshy is able to provide a comprehensive service in paediatric orthopaedic surgery as well as adult foot and ankle surgery, including forefoot surgery, hind foot surgery, ankle surgery, arthroscopic surgery (ankle, foot, knee) and ligament reconstruction of ankle.

Dr. Shiva Mongolu Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology
Dr. Shiva Mongolu is a Consultant Physician specializing in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism at Hull University Hospitals NHS Trust. With 9 years of clinical experience, Dr. Mongolu focuses on pituitary and adrenal disease, thyroid & parathyroid disorders, PCOS (PMOS), gynaecological & general endocrinology, and diabetes. He is also a leader in multidisciplinary care, chairing the regional adrenal MDT and contributing significantly to Pituitary and Thyroid MDTs.

Miss. Noemi Kelemen Plastic Surgeon
Miss. Kelemen is a UK trained consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in head and neck reconstructive surgery within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Miss Kelemen offers a wide range of surgical and non surgical interventions, both aesthetic and reconstructive, promising minimal visible scarring and excellent functional results.
Miss. Kelemen has over 15 years of experience in the field of plastic surgery; successfully completing over 10,000 surgical procedures during that time. She has achieved several medical research publications in world renowned journals, and regularly presents nationally and internationally. She is also the current quality improvement lead for Hull University Teaching Hospitals as well as playing a key role in training the next generation of plastic surgeons within the NHS.

Mr. George Spink Neurosurgeon
Mr Spink is the Senior Spinal Neurosurgeon for East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. His elective practice is entirely spinal, and as such he undertakes all aspects of elective and emergency spinal surgery dealing with simple degenerative spinal pathology, complex degenerative spinal deformity, spinal tumours, spinal trauma and joint replacement surgery, making him an expert in his field.
Over the last decade he has been responsible for helping coordinate the development of spinal surgery services in the region, with particular reference to metastatic spinal cord compression, spinal cord injuries and spinal column fractures. He maintains membership of the European Spinal Society (EuroSpine), British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS) and the Society of British Neurosurgeons (SBNS) and regularly attends their academic meetings and conferences. He was trained in Spinal Neurosurgery by Mr Adrian Casey and Professor Alan Crockard, at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Mr David Peterson at Charing Cross Hospital and Mr John Brecknell at Queens Hospital in London. On completing his training, he took up a Consultant Neurosurgeon post at The John Radcliffe Hosptial in Oxford. He then moved to East Yorkshire, where he was offered the role as Head of Department for Spinal Surgery at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Dr. Deepa Narayanan Consultant in Lipidology and Metabolic Bone Disorders
Dr. Narayanan is a highly experienced Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. With over a decade of expertise, Dr. Narayanan specialises in a wide range of areas, including cholesterol management, lipid disorders, cardiovascular risk assessment, Osteoporosis, Vitamin D deficiency, and Metabolic Bone Disease.
Dr. Narayanan serves as the Clinical Lead for the lipid clinic and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia services, spearheading initiatives such as the launch of the Familial Hypercholesterolaemia genetic testing service in 2017. Committed to advancing medical education, she is actively involved in postgraduate training and serves as a clinical tutor at Hull University.
Additionally, Dr. Narayanan is engaged in cutting-edge research, particularly focusing on lipid disorders and metabolic bone disorders, and currently serves as the principal investigator for a multi-centre cardiovascular outcome trial at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Ravi Mahendra is a Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist with over 15+ years of experience working in this field. He is a medically trained doctor who has worked within medicine and surgery, before specialising in Psychiatry.
Dr Mahendra is trained to diagnose and treat common psychiatric disorders for young people below the age of 18 years old. He has a multitude of experience with ADHD and Autism Assessments. With training in the Autism Diagnostic Interview and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, he has conducted numerous 2nd opinion Autism Assessments, and has taught medical students on the ever growing subject of Autism. Dr. Ramamoorthy Varadan Consultant Community Paediatrician
Dr Ramamoorthy Varadan is a highly experienced Consultant Community Paediatrician with over 15 years in paediatrics across the UK and India. He qualified with an MBBS and MD in Paediatrics before completing his specialist training in the UK, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health from the University of Leeds and membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Since 2020, he has served as a substantive NHS Consultant at Scunthorpe General Hospital, where he holds the position of Clinical Lead for Paediatric Epilepsy and also leads the Paediatric Palliative Care service.
His extensive training encompasses community paediatrics, neurodisability, general paediatrics, and neonatology, with a notable period at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Dr Varadan brings a special interest in childhood epilepsy and neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, ADHD, developmental coordination disorder, and other general paediatric concerns affecting children and young people from birth to 18 years. At Optima Clinics, he leads the Paediatric & Neurodiversity Service, delivering thorough assessments and ongoing management with a focus on early intervention and family-centred care.
